Putin open to meeting Zelenskyy, but only under certain conditions

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that he is willing to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. However, the Kremlin leader emphasized that the conditions must first be created for such a meeting, the Russian news agency TASS reports.
"I've said it many times before - I don't object to it in general, it’s possible. But certain conditions must be created for that. And unfortunately, we are still far from creating such conditions," Putin said.
However, the Russian President did not specify what exactly those conditions are.
Possible meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov recently stated that Putin does not rule out a personal meeting with President Zelenskyy. However, according to him, such a meeting would only be possible after preparatory work is done.
On August 1, Putin made another round of delusional claims, including one where he said he allegedly wants to end the war with Ukraine. However, according to him, that would only be possible on Moscow's terms.
In response, Zelenskyy stressed that if this is truly a signal of readiness to end the war, then Ukraine's proposal for a meeting at the leadership level remains valid.
Following the visit of US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to Moscow, talks about ending the war in Ukraine have gained momentum once again. US President Donald Trump's team is preparing for a trilateral meeting with Putin and Zelenskyy, while the Ukrainian President has announced "many calls" aimed at advancing the peace process.
