On Monday, October 13, the plane of US President Donald Trump landed in Israel, where the process of releasing hostages held by Hamas is underway, according to The Times of Israel.

The plane carrying the American leader landed at Ben Gurion International Airport after flying over Hostages Square in Tel Aviv.

At the airport, Trump was greeted by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog.

It is expected that the US President will meet today with the released hostages.

After Israel, Trump will travel to Egypt for the Gaza summit, which will include Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and more than 20 world leaders. A peace plan brokered by the Trump administration is set to be signed in Sharm el-Sheikh.

On October 13, Hamas was to release 20 Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.

A list of names was published that matches the official Israeli list. The exchange is scheduled to begin at 08:00 local time (which coincides with Kyiv time).

On October 12, US President Donald Trump departed for Israel and declared that the war in the Gaza Strip was over.

According to him, a ceasefire took effect on October 10, marking the start of a 72-hour period during which all hostages are to be released.

Trump's peace initiative, presented last week, includes 20 points aimed at resolving the conflict in Gaza. The plan provides for the creation of an international Peace Council that will oversee the work of the Palestinian Committee responsible for administering the enclave.

Since October 6, indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas have been ongoing in Egypt, mediated by Egypt, the United States, and Qatar.

On October 9, Trump announced that an agreement had been reached between the parties regarding the first phase of his plan.
