US President Donald Trump wants to personally make decisions regarding sanctions against Russia over its war against Ukraine, states White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the President was in close contact with his allies in the Senate, especially Lindsey Graham, on the issue. She noted that he had always emphasized that he was the President and had been deeply involved in the conflict from the beginning, which is why he wanted to reserve all decisions regarding sanctions for himself.

According to Leavitt, the decision to impose sanctions against Russia is both the authority and the right of President Trump.

US sanctions against Russia

US Senator Lindsey Graham has introduced a bill calling for severe sanctions against Russia. The legislation proposes 500% secondary tariffs on countries that continue to buy Russian oil, natural gas, uranium, and other key resources.

Recently, US President Donald Trump issued a warning to Russia, threatening new sanctions if President Vladimir Putin does not agree to end the war against Ukraine. Trump gave the Kremlin a 50-day deadline to comply with the ultimatum. If unmet, he vowed to impose 100% secondary tariffs.

According to Trump, if Putin refuses to meet the deadline and agree to a peace deal, it will result in very bad consequences for Russia.
