Trump: I am strongly considering large-scale sanctions and tariffs against Russia

The US President, Donald Trump, is considering imposing large-scale sanctions on Russia. The introduction of tariffs on Russian goods is also being discussed, according to the American leader on Truth Social.
"Based on the fact that Russia is absolutely 'pounding' Ukraine on the battlefield right now, I am strongly considering large-scale banking sanctions, sanctions, and tariffs on Russia until a ceasefire and final settlement agreement on peace is reached," said the US president.
He urged Ukraine and Russia to sit down at the negotiating table "right now," before "it’s too late."
New sanctions against Russia
Earlier, US special representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, stated that in order to bring Russia to the negotiating table, Washington is trying to pressure it through "maximum energy sanctions."
Kellogg also suggested the possibility of imposing new US sanctions on Russia. However, he emphasized that the number of sanctions is not as important as their enforcement.
It is worth noting that Trump had promised back in January to impose new sanctions on Russia if it refuses to engage in peace talks with Ukraine.
At the same time, Kellogg promised that the US leader "could double" anti-Russian sanctions to ensure the war against Ukraine comes to an end.
For now, the US is primarily exerting pressure on Ukraine. Specifically, they have stopped providing military assistance to Ukrainian defenders.
