Trump files $10 billion lawsuit against Harris
Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, has filed a lawsuit against CBS over an interview with Kamala Harris. The segment aired on the news program "60 Minutes" and allegedly misled viewers, according to Reuters.
In a complaint submitted on Thursday, October 31, US District Court for the Northern District of Texas, it is stated that the network presented two different responses from Harris regarding the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
The version that aired during the "60 Minutes" segment on October 6 did not include what the lawsuit describes as "word salad" — Harris' remarks about the Biden administration's influence on Israel's conduct of the war.
The lawsuit seeks approximately $10 billion in damages, citing violations of Texas state law prohibiting false business practices.
"Former President Trump’s repeated claims against 60 Minutes are false. The lawsuit Trump has brought today against CBS is completely without merit, and we will vigorously defend against it," a CBS News spokesperson said
Trump has repeatedly criticized CBS during his campaign over this incident and threatened to revoke the network's broadcasting license if elected president.
Earlier, CBS announced that Trump had canceled a scheduled interview with "60 Minutes."
US presidential election
On Tuesday, November 5, the presidential election will occur in the United States.
The main contenders in the race are Kamala Harris from the Democrats and Donald Trump from the Republicans.
According to recent polls, Harris and Trump's ratings have nearly equalized.
In the event of Trump’s loss, acts of violence from his supporters cannot be ruled out in several swing states that often determine election outcomes.
Political scientist Volodymyr Fesenkoo argues that the danger of the current elections for Ukraine lies not only in a potential Trump victory but also in a political crisis that could erupt after voting due to the almost identical ratings of the candidates.
