US President Donald Trump on his Truth Social account said he absolutely does not believe that China and Russia are providing any assistance to Iran. He said that, even if such assistance were being provided, it would be on a very limited scale.
“I see so many comments from the Radical Left Morons and Lunatics that China and Russia are helping the “wonderful” Islamic Republic of Iran. If they are, it’s at a very low level, but I don’t believe they are at all,” Trump wrote.
He added that Beijing and Moscow had a lot to lose. If they were helping Iran, the United States would find out — and would find out very quickly, he said.
Signs of assistance to Iran
Over the past several years, media outlets have repeatedly reported that China and Russia may be helping Iran, including in its confrontation with the United States.
In September, the Financial Times reported that Russia had been secretly helping Iran develop hypersonic cruise missiles for years. The report described this as one of the most significant known transfers of strategic military technology from Moscow to Tehran.
That same month, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent publicly urged countries around the world, including Russia, to stop providing any support to Iran and stay out of the conflict. The statement came after a meeting between Russian and Iranian officials at which Moscow assured Tehran of its support.
In May 2026, the United States also examined allegations that Iran may have used Chinese weapons to shoot down an American F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet during combat. Beijing may also have supplied Tehran with an aircraft early-warning system.
