According to the US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, the White House neither confirms nor denies US President Donald Trump's statement about his conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

During his statement, Trump's national security advisor refused to deny or confirm the phone call between the US president and Putin.

"I'm not going to get ahead of the president, and there are certainly a lot of sensitive conversations going on," he said.

Trump spoke with Putin

Earlier today, on February 9, US President Donald Trump said that he had a phone conversation with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

The American leader said that he wanted to try to negotiate with the Kremlin leader to end Russia's war with Ukraine.

On February 7, Trump said that he would probably talk to Putin. At the time, he mentioned good relations with the Russian dictator.

Earlier, US President Trump also said that he might soon meet with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to the American leader, the meeting should take place in Washington, as he is not going to Kyiv yet.
