Trump does not plan to meet with Putin in near future - Axios

The meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin is unlikely to take place anytime soon, according to Axios correspondent Barak Ravid on Twitter (X).
"No plans for President Trump to meet with President Putin in the immediate future," Ravid cites an unnamed White House official as saying.
The official clarified that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a productive call, so "an additional in-person meeting is not necessary."
Trump–Putin meeting
Recall that US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held another call on October 16. Immediately after the conversation, Trump stated that he and Putin would meet again, this time in Budapest.
As part of preparations for such a meeting, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a phone call yesterday, October 20. The State Department did not provide any specifics regarding a potential leaders-level meeting.
Meanwhile, Lavrov once again rejected the US proposal for Ukraine and Russia to cease hostilities along the current front line on October 21.
The Russian minister claimed that a ceasefire would result in "most of Ukraine remaining under the control of Nazis."
This is not the first time Russia has rejected a ceasefire. In Moscow, either impossible conditions for a truce are invented, or excuses are made suggesting that stopping the killings would supposedly allow Ukraine to strengthen itself.
In particular, during negotiations with Ukrainian officials in Istanbul, members of the Russian delegation presented a memorandum. In it, Russia issued Ukraine with ultimatum-like demands, including regarding the cessation of hostilities.
