US President Donald Trump has dismissed Attorney General Pam Bondi, who will be given a new position, according to the American leader’s post on Truth Social and CNN.
The US president added that under Bondi, "murders are plummeting to their lowest level since 1900."
"We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future, and our Deputy Attorney General, and a very talented and respected Legal Mind, Todd Blanche, will step in to serve as Acting Attorney General," he said.
Possible reason for dismissal
The US president did not specify why he decided to remove his attorney general.
However, CNN reported earlier today, citing its own sources, that Trump had privately discussed the possibility of dismissing Bondi.
Sources told the outlet that the US leader was frustrated by the negative reaction of his supporters to the administration’s handling of the case involving Jeffrey Epstein’s files.
According to CNN’s sources, Trump was also dissatisfied with what he saw as Bondi’s insufficiently active pursuit of cases against his political opponents.
Journalists added that Trump is considering Lee Zeldin, head of the Environmental Protection Agency, as a potential replacement.
Pam Bondi is an American lawyer and Republican politician who has served as US attorney general since 2025. Previously, she was Florida’s attorney general and had been considered by Trump for various roles in his administration since 2018.
Her confirmation in the Senate passed with a 54–46 vote, largely along party lines.
