Trump 'disappointed' in Russia and Ukraine: Deal could have already been reached

US President Donald Trump believes that Ukraine and Russia could have already reached a peace agreement. However, he is disappointed that it hasn’t happened, the US leader made this statement while speaking with journalists.
"I'm very disappointed in Russia, but I'm disappointed with Ukraine also because I think deals could have been made," Trump said.
According to him, Ukraine and Russia are losing 5,000 to 6,000 people each week. These are "mostly soldiers," but also civilians, as missile strikes are targeting them as well.
"How would you like to live in a building, and you think a missile has a good chance of hitting your building during the evening? It’s horrible. It must be horrible to live like that," the president added.
Trump also boasted that the US "did a great job" with India and Pakistan, as well as with Israel. He once again claimed that no such catastrophe would have happened if he had been president.
US mediation
The US positions itself as a mediator between Ukraine and Russia. However, recently, Washington has been paying less and less attention to this role.
The US has distanced itself from efforts to find a resolution to Russia’s war against Ukraine after Russia refused an unconditional ceasefire for at least 30 days. At the same time, Washington has been reluctant to exert pressure on Moscow.
In particular, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently stated that his country is not imposing sanctions on Russia because doing so might prompt Russia to withdraw from the negotiation process.
