Trump could target other buyers of Russian oil, not just India

US President Donald Trump may extend the 25% tariff imposed on India to other countries as well. This concerns buyers of Russian oil, according to the President's decree.
According to Trump’s tariff decree against India, the US State Department, the Department of the Treasury, the Department of Commerce, and other agencies can monitor countries purchasing oil from Russia.
In such cases, the aforementioned agencies may recommend expanding sanctions.
Tariffs against India
Last week, US President Donald Trump sharply criticized India for its trade with Russia, as well as for having the toughest and most unpleasant non-tariff trade barriers among all countries.
In particular, the American leader emphasized that India is one of the largest buyers of Russian oil. This is happening while Russia refuses to stop the killings in Ukraine.
Against this background, Trump threatened to impose significant tariffs on India.
Today, August 6, the US President signed a decree introducing an additional 25% tariff on India.
Earlier, Trump threatened to impose 100% tariffs on Russia’s trade partners if Moscow did not agree to a ceasefire with Ukraine by August 8.
