US President Donald Trump stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would like to reach an agreement. Trump made the remarks aboard his plane, according to a broadcast streamed on the White House’s YouTube channel.

When a journalist asked what Zelenskyy had said, Trump replied:

“He said he wants to make a deal. We're discussing things that have been discussed for 6 or 7 months.”

At the same time, the US president did not disclose any specific details about the potential agreement.

Meeting in Davos

Today, January 22, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump met in Davos.

Both the Ukrainian presidential office and Trump himself described the meeting as positive.

On the same day, US special envoy Steve Witkoff and the American leader’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, are meeting in Moscow with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. According to Witkoff, the meeting was initiated by the Russians.

Negotiations in the UAE

Meanwhile, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine, the US, and Russia will hold their first trilateral technical-level meeting. It is scheduled to take place in the Emirates in the coming days.

According to the president, he hopes the Emirates are aware of these plans, as the US side sometimes arranges surprises. In any case, the negotiating teams will travel there.

Zelenskyy said the Ukrainian delegation will include the Head of the Office of the President, Kyrylo Budanov, and the First Deputy Head of the Office of the President, Sergiy Kyslytsya.

The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andrii Hnatov, will also participate in the talks.

The composition of the Russian and US delegations is not yet known.
