Trump can bring Putin to his knees, he needs to feel it - Zelenskyy

Only tough pressure can force the Kremlin to make concessions. And the American president, Donald Trump, is capable of this, states Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to the New York Post.
The president gave an interview to the New York Post, in which he emphasized that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not ready for compromises to end the war.
At the same time, he stressed that Trump has the power to bring him to his knees by accelerating tough sanctions that could trigger a "social explosion" in Russia.
"He needs to feel it," said the head of Ukraine.
Zelenskyy noted that he is "very grateful" to Trump for supporting the sanctions, referring to the president’s announcement on Monday that he would impose a 100% tariff on countries buying Russian oil if Moscow does not agree to a peace deal within 50 days.
However, according to him, this deadline only means more deaths and destruction for almost two more months.
"Fifty days, for us, is just — every day is scary," Zelenskyy said.
Trump gave Putin 50 days for a peace deal
In recent days, Donald Trump has openly expressed frustration over the slow progress of peace negotiations regarding Ukraine.
The former US president noted that he had hoped for an agreement two months ago, but no real progress has been made. In response, he announced his readiness to impose new economic restrictions on Russia.
Specifically, Trump threatened to introduce secondary tariffs if no deal is reached within 50 days. According to him, such measures would be tough and could reach up to 100%.
Despite this, Trump expressed hope that such actions would not be necessary but emphasized that the US is prepared to take decisive steps if needed.
RBC-Ukraine has already reported on what awaits Putin after Trump’s 50-day deadline.
