US President Donald Trump publicly criticized Iran for blocking the Strait of Hormuz, BBC reports.

"Already won"

Trump believes that the blocking of the strategic transport route is unfair, since the United States has allegedly already won the war against Iran.

"It's a little unfair. You win a war, but they have no right to be doing what they're doing," the US president said.

How it started

After three days of US and Israeli strikes on targets in Tehran at the end of February, Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

During eight days of naval confrontation, the Iranian fleet lost almost half of its warships, including drone carriers and submarines. However, Tehran still blocked the main oil artery of the planet.

At the beginning of March, Iran attacked two oil tankers near the Iraqi port of Basra with underwater drones. In total, at least 16 ships have been attacked since the start of hostilities.

US intelligence also recorded mining of the shipping channel.

Due to the blocking of the Strait of Hormuz, oil prices in the world rose almost instantly, and gasoline prices also increased.

Oil from the Middle East region began to be transported to the global market, bypassing Iran blockade.

However, new supplies are unlikely to reduce fuel prices in Ukraine, but may contribute to their stabilization.

Despite the fact that fuel prices in Ukraine have increased significantly, authorities do not plan to reduce taxes to restrain prices. Instead, the Cabinet of Ministers introduced cashback on fuel, considering it a more effective tool than tax relief.
