Trump avoids answering whether Ukraine can regain its territory

US President Donald Trump has made a new statement about Russia's war against Ukraine and the possibility of regaining occupied territories during his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in New York.
During the meeting, a journalist reminded Trump of a statement he made last year at the UN General Assembly. At the time, the US president said that Ukraine would be able to regain all of its territory.
The journalist asked whether his position remains unchanged.
In response, the US president did not directly assess Ukraine's prospects of regaining all its territory.
"I think they (Ukraine and Russia - ed.) are going to make a deal. I don't want to say what the deal is," Trump said.
Thus, the US president avoids clarifying whether Ukraine can regain all occupied land. Instead, he pointed to expectations for a future deal.
At the same time, the US president did not provide any specific details about the potential deal.
Zelenskyy and Trump meet in the US
During his speech at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly today, Donald Trump said that the war in Ukraine would end "more quickly than people understand."
After arriving at the UN General Assembly, the US president addressed the Russian president: "Settle the war."
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he hoped that, with Trump's help, the war in Ukraine could be brought to an end by winter.
