US President Donald Trump stated that Washington and Iran have reached a peace agreement. He also announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

"The deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all! I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!" Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Just 10 minutes earlier, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also announced on X that the United States and Iran had reached an agreement.

"Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED," he stated.

According to Sharif, sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.

"The official signing ceremony will be on Friday, 19 June in Switzerland," the Pakistani prime minister added.

He also noted that after the agreement is concluded, mediators will hold a series of meetings this week. These discussions will lay the groundwork for technical negotiations and the official signing ceremony.

Later, following the agreement between Iran and the United States, its details were made public. The memorandum between the two warring countries provides for a 60-day ceasefire, including Israel's military actions in Lebanon; the unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz and the restoration of free navigation in the region (which may not happen immediately — ed.); and negotiations between Washington and Tehran on nuclear containment, including the disposal of enriched uranium.

In addition, the United States will agree to discuss easing sanctions and releasing frozen Iranian assets, provided Tehran fulfills the conditions.

Other details

Less than a day earlier, US President Donald Trump criticized Israel after strikes on Lebanon, which occurred just as the United States and Iran were close to finalizing an agreement.

Also, an Iranian official revealed details of the agreement Iran was preparing to sign with the United States, including a commitment that Iran would not possess nuclear weapons.
