The US is imposing 100% tariffs on Chinese goods and export controls on all critical software, according to a post by President Donald Trump on the social media platform Truth Social.

The new measures will take effect on November 1, 2025, or earlier if China takes further aggressive actions in its trade policy.

Starting November 1, the US will also implement export controls on all critical software.

According to Trump, the decision is a response to Beijing’s extremely aggressive stance.

“It has just been learned that China has taken an extraordinarily aggressive position on Trade in sending an extremely hostile letter to the World, stating that they were going to, effective November 1st, 2025, impose large scale Export Controls on virtually every product they make, and some not even made by them,” he wrote in his post.

Trump noted that this affects all countries without exception and is apparently a plan China has been developing for many years.

“It is absolutely unheard of in International Trade, and a moral disgrace in dealing with other Nations,” he added.

He emphasized that Washington will implement the 100% tariffs solely on behalf of the US, without waiting for similar actions from other countries.

“It is impossible to believe that China would have taken such an action, but they have, and the rest is History,” Trump remarked.

Possible Trump–Xi Jinping meeting

According to RBC-Ukraine, Donald Trump previously wrote that there is no need for a meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, citing China’s letters to other countries about export controls.

“Some very strange things are happening in China! They are becoming very hostile and sending letters to Countries throughout the world, that they want to impose export controls on each and every element of production having to do with rare earths, and virtually anything else they can think of, even if it's not manufactured in China,” Trump wrote.

He added that such a move could block markets and create difficulties for almost every country.

On October 2, Trump stated that his meeting with Xi Jinping could take place in a month.

He noted that the main topic of discussion would be soybeans, as China is refusing to buy them from American farmers solely for trade reasons.
