Witkoff’s trip to Putin
The conversation between the two leaders takes place after US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
Following the talks, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov stated that Putin sent a signal about the war in Ukraine through Witkoff. In turn, Witkoff conveyed the signal to Trump. Ushakov did not specify what exactly was discussed.
After Witkoff meets with Putin, RBC-Ukraine sources reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is to speak by phone with US President Donald Trump.
Witkoff’s trip to Moscow took place before August 8 — Trump’s deadline, after which the American leader promised to impose secondary tariffs and sanctions against Russia.
