Trump administration ordered Ukrainians to leave US by mistake

Several Ukrainians legally residing in the US under a humanitarian program received an email this week. The message stated that their status had been canceled and that they had seven days to leave the country, or they would be located by the federal government, according to Reuters.
"If you do not depart the United States immediately, you will be subject to potential law enforcement actions that will result in your removal from the United States," the Thursday email read. "Again, DHS is terminating your parole. Do not attempt to remain in the United States."
The next day, on Friday, the DHS spokesperson stated that the email had been sent in error and that the humanitarian program for Ukrainians, established after Russia's invasion in 2022, had not been canceled.
Additionally, on the same day, the DHS sent an additional message clarifying that the order was a mistake and that "the terms of your parole as originally issued remain unchanged at this time." It is still unclear how many Ukrainians received the erroneous email.
Deportation of Ukrainians from US
Last month, Reuters reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump planned to revoke the temporary legal status of about 240,000 Ukrainians who fled the war with Russia. Such a move could potentially be made by the US as early as April, which could lead to the deportation of Ukrainian citizens.
