US President Donald Trump accused the United Nations of inaction on global conflicts, including the war in Ukraine. He is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy today to discuss a framework for a peace deal, reports CNN.

Trump criticized the UN, saying the organization "has been of very little assistance or help" in solving various global conflicts, "including the disaster currently going on between Russia and Ukraine."

"The United Nations must start getting active and involved in world peace," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Today, Trump will meet with President Zelenskyy at Mar-a-Lago to discuss a peace deal framework for Ukraine.

He also praised the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia for agreeing to a temporary ceasefire along their border.

"It was fast & decisive, as all of these situations should be!" Trump added, saying the United States played a key role in achieving a quick and fair resolution.

Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine has continued since 2022. The UN has attempted to mediate the conflict through resolutions, but permanent Security Council members, including Russia, often block them.

Zelenskyy's meeting with Trump

Zelenskyy announced he will visit the US on December 28 to meet with Donald Trump. Media reports indicate major differences in how the peace plan, developed with input from Moscow and the US, should be implemented.

During the meeting, the Ukrainian president plans to discuss both Donbas and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant with Trump.

European leaders will also attend the meeting virtually. The meeting is scheduled for 8:00 PM Kyiv time, and the Ukrainian delegation has already arrived in the US.
