Training on F-16 and more: Ukraine's MoD holds talks with Portuguese counterpart

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov held talks with his Portuguese counterpart Helena Carreiras, and discussed the training of technical personnel for F-16 jets, according to his X.
"Grateful for the support Portugal has provided to Ukraine. We discussed the training of Ukrainian technical and support personnel for F16 and Portugal’s engagement," notes the Ukrainian minister.
He adds that he emphasized the importance of localizing the defense industry in Ukraine. The Minister of Defense invited Portuguese companies to invest jointly in Ukraine's defense production.
Portugal's assistance
Portugal has been one of Ukraine's allies since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion. Specifically, the country provided our defenders with Leopard 2 tanks.
Portugal also expressed readiness to participate in training Ukrainian pilots on the F-16. This was mentioned by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy following negotiations with his Portuguese counterpart.
Furthermore, back in the summer, there was information in the media that Portugal would transfer Tekever drones to Ukraine.
