TikTok 2.0? Company launches new app in US, Reuters reports

TikTok is preparing to launch a separate version of the app for users in the United States. This is related to the requirement by the US authorities to sell the service's local assets, Reuters reports.
According to the media's anonymous sources, TikTok is creating a new version of its app for users in the United States ahead of the planned sale of the app to a group of investors.
This happened after US President Donald Trump stated that he would begin negotiations on a possible deal regarding TikTok with China on Monday or Tuesday.
Trump said that the United States "practically" has a deal for the sale of the TikTok app.
TikTok for Americans
The sources reported that TikTok has developed a plan to launch the new app in US digital stores on September 5.
Last month, Trump extended until September 17 the deadline by which the Chinese company ByteDance had to divest the American assets of TikTok.
The report adds that TikTok users will eventually have to download the new app to continue using the service, although the existing app will function until March of next year, though the timeline may change.
Recently Trump stated that the American segment of TikTok may be bought by new owners. This will be a group of very wealthy investors.
Earlier, on June 19, the US President once again postponed the blocking of the TikTok app in the United States.
