Three Russian soldiers have been sentenced to 12 years in prison for abusing a resident of the Kyiv region. The Russian military beat the civilian, stripped him, and buried him in the ground, according to the Office of the Prosecutor General.

According to the report, with the support of the Prosecutor General’s Office, three servicemen of the Russian Federation have been found guilty of cruel treatment of civilians (Part 1 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Each was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Prosecutors proved in court that in March 2022, while in the temporarily occupied village of Havronshchyna in the Makariv community of Bucha district, Kyiv region, the Russian soldiers treated a civilian inhumanely.

For a week, they abused a local resident, inflicting bodily harm, threatening him with firearms, and tying his hands and feet with rope. The Russian military stripped the man, buried him in the ground, and deprived him of water, food, and clothing.

We earlier reported that Ukraine’s Security Service (SSU) served a notice of suspicion to a Russian serviceman who executed two Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers before being captured by Ukrainian forces.
