Russian troops are currently not preparing for a large-scale offensive on Kherson, though a certain level of threat persists, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, reports.

According to Syrskyi, in Kherson, the enemy is focusing its actions mainly on the island zone and near the bridges. At the same time, Russia has already redeployed one regiment and a marine brigade away from this direction.

“There, the Russians are active mainly in the island zone and near the bridges. At the same time, they have redeployed one regiment and a marine brigade away from this sector, which indicates that there will be no major offensive actions in the near term in the Dnipro area,” Syrskyi explained.

Ukraine’s Commander in Chief also added that the threat of a Russian offensive on Kherson “always exists, and we must not ignore it.”

Situation in Kherson region

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russian forces have regularly shelled Kherson and the region with various weapons, including artillery and drones.

Recently, the enemy struck the Ostrivskyi Bridge with guided aerial bombs for several days in a row. The Kherson Regional Military Administration later published footage showing a through-hole in the bridge’s roadway.

After that, the city expanded its evacuation zone. Mandatory evacuation now applies to families with children in the Korabel and Yantarnyi-1 and Yantarnyi-2 districts, as well as all streets closer to the Dnipro River.

Furthermore, according to the Ukrainian military, Russian forces have also tripled the number of assaults on the islands near Kherson.
