In Tbilisi, Georgia, mass protests have begun. The cause is the victory of the controversial pro-Russian party Georgian Dream in the elections by a significant margin, report News-Georgia, Tbilisi Life, and Echo of the Caucasus Telegram channels.

According to News-Georgia, thousands of people gathered in Tbilisi to participate in the protests. Rustaveli Avenue has already been blocked. President Salome Zourabichvili and opposition leaders are participating in the rally. They held consultations beforehand.

One of the leaders of the Unity-National Movement party, Giorgi Vashadze, stated at the rally that the opposition is demanding repeat elections.

Meanwhile, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was spotted near the entrance of a hotel located at the epicenter of the protests. He came to Tbilisi for a visit, and the rally participants booed the head of the Hungarian government.

Notably, not only Georgian and EU flags, but also Ukrainian can be noticed at the protests.

Elections in Georgia

Parliamentary elections were held in Georgia on October 26. According to preliminary results of the Central Election Commission of Georgia, the pro-Russian party Georgian Dream gained over 50% of the votes.

Opposition parties have already stated that the election results were falsified, and they announced a boycott.
