Thousands of books burn after Russian strike on warehouse near Kyiv

During the attack, a warehouse containing thousands of books from popular Ukrainian publishers burned down in Sviatopetrivske, Kyiv region, according to Readeat and Vivat.
What happened to Vivat's warehouse
The publisher's warehouse was located on the premises of Nova Poshta in Sviatopetrivske. The fire there is still being extinguished, and the extent of the losses is still being assessed.
In addition to Vivat's own books, the fire also destroyed products belonging to its partners, the Readeat and Book.ua bookstores, which also stored their goods there.
How the publisher is operating now
Despite losing the warehouse, Vivat continues to operate. The publisher's physical bookstores remain open, while e-books and audiobooks are still available to readers.
The Readeat online store said that order shipments have been suspended. The company explained that it needs time to assess the consequences of the attack and determine how to resume shipments.
"Every box was someone's anticipation, a gift, a long-awaited book," Readeat wrote.
Despite this, Readeat's physical bookstores also continue to operate.
A new wave of attacks began at 6:00 p.m. on August 27. Russia launched 164 drones at Ukraine, mostly Shahed-type attack UAVs, some of which were jet-powered.
On the night of August 28, drones and guided aerial bombs struck several regions.
In addition to the warehouse in Sviatopetrivske, the enemy struck a Nova Poshta terminal in Sumy and an Epicentr hypermarket in Zaporizhzhia, while one person was killed in a strike in the Kharkiv region.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, air defense forces managed to shoot down 137 of the 164 drones launched.
