A super simple dessert is rapidly gaining popularity on social media, a cheesecake made with just two ingredients. The recipe, which went viral in Japan, combines only Greek yogurt and cookies, but its texture and taste surprisingly resemble a classic cheesecake.
RBC-Ukraine explains how to make the trendy treat and what makes it unique.
What makes the new dessert unique
This dessert is actively showcased by bloggers on TikTok and Instagram. The secret is that the cookies absorb the moisture from the yogurt, gradually softening and turning into a smooth, creamy mixture without any baking. It is precisely this simplicity and the result that made the recipe a real hit this month.
The creators of the trend admit that at first it is hard to believe that something resembling cheesecake can be made without an oven. But after the first taste, there is no doubt left. Of course, this version does not replace the classic rich dessert with cheese and a base, but for yogurt lovers, it is a light and quick alternative.
How to make the dessert
Any natural yogurt is suitable for the recipe, but Greek yogurt gives the best thick consistency. If only regular or plant-based yogurt is at hand, it is recommended to strain it or add a bit of cream cheese for density. Both low-fat and full-fat Greek yogurt can be used. The higher the fat content, the more cheesecake-like the flavor will be.
In Japan, coconut sable cookies are usually used, but in Europe and Ukraine, they can easily be replaced with Biscoff, Oreo, or any dry cookies. These work best for no-bake desserts.
