There is no simple solution to Russia's war against Ukraine - Italy's MoD
There is no simple solution to Russia's war against Ukraine. Therefore, it is necessary to continue providing assistance to Kyiv to create the necessary conditions for a ceasefire, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto made this statement during a Senate hearing on the continuation of military aid to Ukraine, according to ANSA.
Crosetto emphasized the need to continue supporting Ukraine to create the necessary conditions for a ceasefire.
"No simple or immediate solution has emerged. There has been a significant increase in Russian attacks that indiscriminately hit military and civilian targets in Ukraine," the Italian defense minister noted.
According to him, the Italian government is considering "continuing to provide support to Ukraine in order to finally create the conditions for a ceasefire and to open a necessary diplomatic discussion to reach a long-lasting peace."
Italy's assistance to Ukraine
At the end of 2024, the Italian government approved the extension of the authorization to supply military aid to Ukraine.
Italy provides Ukraine with a wide range of weapons and equipment, including Storm Shadow cruise missiles capable of striking targets up to 300 km away.
Additionally, the country has supplied M109 self-propelled artillery systems, anti-aircraft missiles, Spada and Skyguard systems, PzH-2000 howitzers, and multiple launch rocket systems.
Furthermore, Italy, in collaboration with France, delivered the SAMP-T surface-to-air missile system, which is capable of intercepting ballistic missiles.
