On July 27, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported in the first reading a bill proposing to reinstate electronic declaration for officials, according to the statement by Member of Parliament Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

According to him, 299 deputies voted "for," and 21 MPs did not participate in the voting.

The timeline for considering the bill in the second reading is unknown, but Ukraine committed to reinstating e-declaration by August 1, 2023, in the memorandum with the International Monetary Fund.

Reinstatement of electronic declaration

As a reminder, today, July 27, a bill was introduced to the Ukrainian Parliament to reinstate electronic declaration for officials. Following this, the Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine immediately supported the initiative and recommended it for consideration by the deputies.

In particular, the document proposes to require officials who have not filed a declaration in 2022-2023 to do so within 90 days after the law takes effect. That does not apply to military personnel, who can submit statements within 90 days after the end of martial law.

All declarations will be public; only private information about the declarant and those mentioned in their statement will remain confidential.

The mandatory rule for officials to file declarations was canceled after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
