The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) pledged to enter the Gaza Strip
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has pledged to enter the Gaza Strip and commence an operation to eliminate HAMAS militants, according to the Chief of the IDF Staff, Herzl Halevi.
"We will enter the Gaza Strip. We will embark on the operational and professional task of eliminating HAMAS operatives and infrastructure," he said.
Halevi stated that when the IDF enters Gaza, they will "take into account the events of October 7" when HAMAS attacked Israel.
"All of the IDF's capabilities will be with you during this maneuver. Be brave, think like that, be very determined, and give your soldiers confidence," Halevi said, addressing the Israel Defense Forces.
HAMAS-Israel war
On October 7, HAMAS militants infiltrated Israeli territory. During their large-scale attack, they shot and abducted civilians, and the terrorists shared videos of their atrocities on social media.
Following this, Israel launched a military operation against Hamas called Operation Iron Swords. The IDF succeeded in driving the militants out of the country. The next stage may involve a ground operation in the Gaza Strip.
The Israel Defense Forces had previously conducted raids into the Gaza Strip, during which a group of terrorists was eliminated. However, the IDF did not enter deep into Gaza territory.
On October 19, Israel's Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, promised the IDF soldiers that they would soon "see Gaza from the inside."
