Thailand ready for ceasefire with Cambodia: condition named

Thailand is ready to agree to a ceasefire with Cambodia if it sees a similar intention from the other side.
This was stated by acting Thai Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, according to Reuters.
He thanked US President Donald Trump for his efforts in the ceasefire talks with Cambodia.
"Thailand agrees in principle to have a ceasefire in place, but would like to see sincere intention from the Cambodian side," he noted.
Wetchayachai also added that he asked Trump to convey to the Cambodian side that Thailand seeks an immediate bilateral dialogue to develop measures and procedures for a ceasefire and "eventual peaceful resolution of the conflict."
Thailand–Cambodia conflict
The conflict between Cambodia and Thailand erupted on July 24 following a border shooting that resulted in the deaths of several Thai and Cambodian soldiers.
Amid the escalation, Thailand deployed units along the border equipped with Ukrainian-made Oplot MBTs and BTR-3E APCs. Airstrikes were launched on Phnom Penh’s military positions. Thai forces also repelled a Cambodian incursion in Trat province.
On July 26, US President Donald Trump held a phone call with the leaders of Cambodia and Thailand. He stated that both sides expressed a willingness to negotiate a ceasefire.
Later, it was reported that the Thai army suspended combat operations, not due to Trump’s efforts, but because of extremely heavy rainfall.
