Tennis couple alert: Svitolina and Monfils join forces - Who's their opponent?

On August 21, Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina and her husband, French athlete Gaël Monfils, will participate in the exhibition event "Stars of the Open-2025" ahead of the US Open, reports Big Tennis of Ukraine.
Star duo will play against Italians
Elina Svitolina and Gaël Monfils will compete in a mixed doubles match against Italian opponents Flavia Pennetta and Flavio Cobolli.
This event is part of a large-scale entertainment program traditionally held before the US Open, attracting the attention of thousands of fans.
It is worth noting that two years ago, in 2023, Svitolina and Monfils participated in a similar event. At that time, the event was charitable, with a focus on raising funds to support Ukraine.
Tennis legends on one court
The organizers of "Stars of the Open-2025" announced that a whole lineup of world tennis stars will participate in the tournament.
One of the most anticipated matches will be Coco Gauff and Andre Agassi versus Venus Williams and John McEnroe. This match will bring together different generations of tennis legends on a single court, who are idols for millions of fans worldwide.
Other well-known players taking part include Juan Martín del Potro, Andy Roddick, João Fonseca, Bethanie Mattek-Sands, Jack Sock, and many others.
Previously, we reported that four Ukrainian tennis players were eliminated just before the 2025 US Open. Despite the setbacks in qualifying, four other Ukrainian players will continue in the tournament. Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremska, and Yuliia Starodubtseva will play in the main draw of the US Open.
The main draw of the US Open will start this Sunday, August 24.
