Tehran vows to use all capabilities to counter Israeli attack
Iran has threatened to respond to Israel's attack on October 26, asserting that it has the right to do so, according to The Guardian.
Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated it “strongly” condemns Israel’s assault on its military facilities and claims the right to defend itself.
“On the basis of its inherent right to legitimate defense, stipulated in the Article 51 of the UN Charter, the Islamic Republic of Iran considers itself to be rightful and duty bound to defend against the foreign acts of aggression,” the statement reads.
Iran's state agency Tasnim reports that Iran “employs all of the physical and spiritual capabilities of the Iranian nation to protect its interests and security.”
Meanwhile, some media sources reported that Iran, through third-party countries, conveyed that it would refrain from retaliating against Israel's attack.
Israel's attack on Iran
At dawn on October 26, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) launched strikes on Iran. The IDF stated it had targeted military objectives within Iran. Explosions were heard in Tehran and other Iranian provinces.
According to an IDF spokesperson, 20 sites in Iran were targeted with the deployment of dozens of military aircraft. Israel claims it hit ballistic missile production facilities and air defense systems.
Iran asserts that the attack allegedly did not result in serious consequences. Sky News Arabia reports that Russia provided Iran with intelligence data hours before Israel’s assault.
