Ukrainian intelligence assumes that Russia is likely preparing for a larger-scale offensive, the Financial Times reports.

Unnamed representatives of Ukrainian intelligence told the outlet that Russia's preparation for an offensive is evidenced by the redeployment of Russian troops to key hotspots on the battlefield.

All of this is happening against the backdrop of an offer by Russian President Vladimir Putin to hold direct talks with Ukraine.

Ukraine-Russia talks

The first Ukraine-Russia talks in three years are scheduled for Thursday, May 15.

It is still unclear who will represent Russia in the dialogue. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may attend the talks if Russian President Vladimir Putin is also present.

US President Donald Trump may also take part in the negotiations. His participation depends on whether Putin chooses to attend in person.

Notably, as early as the end of March, President Zelenskyy warned that Russia was preparing new offensives, with Sumy, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions under threat.
