Türkiye wants to become mediator for just peace between Ukraine and Russia - Erdogan
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country wants to mediate a "just peace" between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, according to the Directorate of Communications of the Turkish Presidential Administration.
During his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Astana, on the sidelines of the 24th summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization heads of state, Erdogan emphasized that Türkiye will continue to make efforts to ensure peace in its region and around the world.
Erdogan also added that Türkiye can lay the groundwork for a consensus to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, first through a ceasefire and then through peace.
"A just peace that can satisfy both sides is possible," the Turkish President emphasized.
Peace talks between Russia and Ukraine
At the end of last month, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy named the only possible format of negotiations with Putin.
Earlier, Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine should develop a clear peace plan, which should be ready by the end of this year.
