Türkiye’s FM hints at potential 'new situation' in Ukraine war by 2025
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan does not rule out the emergence of a "new situation" in the war in Ukraine, which could happen as early as 2025, according to Hurriyet.
The Foreign Minister noted that "fatigue on both sides could lead to a new situation in 2025."
"We will see a situation," Fidan remarked.
According to him, efforts to find common ground between Russia and Ukraine are ongoing, and "neither side wants to appear as the loser in this process."
"A fair resolution to the war must be found within the framework of Ukraine’s territorial integrity," the minister stated.
War in Ukraine
This is not the first time Türkiye has spoken about the Ukraine war. Recently, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Ankara sees the Kremlin’s leader, Vladimir Putin, as "seeking a permanent ceasefire." There are even reports suggesting potential expectations for a prisoner exchange.
Additionally, in early October, Erdogan’s administration announced that Türkiye supports Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, including the return of occupied territories such as Crimea.
It is also worth noting that in September, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
