This week, a meeting is scheduled in Budapest between Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Péter Szijjártó, and Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Taras Kachka. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, will not attend the talks, Telex informs.

"According to available information, the Ukrainian government has finally delegated Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Taras Kachka, to the negotiations in Budapest, which are expected to take place on Thursday," the Hungarian Foreign Ministry said.

The talks are expected to be held on Thursday, September 11.

Earlier reports indicated that Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, planned to visit Hungary amid rising tensions between the two countries.

Hungary’s Foreign Minister, Péter Szijjártó, confirmed Sybyha’s visit and the planned meeting with him in Budapest.

"Will meet Andrii Sybiha in Budapest this week to discuss Hungarian-Ukrainian relations. We believe in dialogue and are always ready for talks. But the ball is on Ukraine’s side: real progress is only possible if rights taken from Hungarians in Transcarpathia are fully restored," he said.
