Szijjártó to fly to Washington amid plans for Trump and Putin to meet in Hungary

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó will visit Washington this week on a working trip, according to Reuters.
According to Szijjártó, he will visit Washington tomorrow, October 21.
The minister did not specify whom he will meet during the visit.
Trump–Putin meeting
Last week, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held another phone call, during which they discussed the possibility of ending Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Following the call, Trump said he would meet with the Kremlin leader again, this time in Budapest.
The previous meeting between Trump and Putin essentially failed. The US president had hoped to arrange a summit including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but Putinr did not agree to such a meeting.
Now, the Kremlin leader wants to meet with the US president amid discussions in Washington about supplying Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk missiles.
According to sources cited by The Washington Post, during talks with Trump, Putin allegedly hinted at a willingness to withdraw his troops from the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions — but only on the condition that Ukrainian forces leave the Donetsk region.
In response to these rumors, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that no one will give Donetsk to Russia.
Commenting on Trump and Putin’s plans to meet in Budapest, Zelenskyy noted that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is unlikely to do anything positive for Ukraine. He also warned that a repeat of the Budapest Memorandum would certainly not be beneficial for Ukraine.
