The Armed Forces of Ukraine are undergoing a reorganization to increase operational efficiency. This will make it possible to form more capable reserves for conducting counteroffensive and offensive operations.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi during a meeting with journalists.

"Last year, we began reorganizing the Armed Forces while engaged in active combat, and we planned the creation of army corps. The main goal of transitioning to a new organizational structure is to improve the effectiveness of our operations and reduce the burden on military command bodies," the commander noted.

As Syrskyi explained, the reorganization involves reducing the number of units directly subordinated to a specific command body (army corps). At the same time, the OSUV level remains in place, while the OTU level will gradually be phased out.

According to him, the first wave of army corps headquarters, along with support units, have already completed combat coordination and assumed their areas of responsibility and designated troop formations. Next, the following waves will follow, and all corps will take their positions.

Syrskyi added that this primarily involves more effective use of all available forces and means, optimizing artillery distribution, as well as increasing the number of drone units.

"I hope that this reorganization will allow us, first, to save personnel — that is, to use our servicemen who directly carry out combat tasks more rationally. Also, to create more effective reserves to enable active counteroffensive and offensive actions," said the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He also noted that corps commanders have selected their own leadership and were allowed to independently choose their deputies. This has also led to the rejuvenation of the army’s operational leadership.

"The vast majority of corps commanders are former brigade commanders who distinguished themselves on the battlefield. Their deputies and chiefs of staff are similar. We hope that this reorganization will provide new opportunities in terms of efficient unit deployment, application of combat experience, strengthening control over brigades, reducing our losses, and increasing enemy casualties," Syrskyi added.

Background

Defense forces continue to hold the enemy on all operational fronts, inflicting fire damage both on temporarily occupied Ukrainian territory and on Russian territory.

Under favorable conditions, Ukrainian troops conduct offensive operations to restore lost positions. The Armed Forces combine defensive and active offensive actions, developing and scaling up promising assault units (regiments, battalions).

Situation on the front

Recall that in the past day, 171 combat clashes were recorded on the front. The most fighting was reported in the Pokrovsk, Northern-Slobozhanskyi, Kursk, Lyman, and Toretsk directions.

As is known, the Russians have intensified assaults in an attempt to reach the administrative border of Dnipropetrovsk region. So far, enemy attempts to advance have been unsuccessful.

According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russia holds about 695,000 invaders on Ukrainian territory. An additional 52,000 enemy troops are positioned in Russia opposite Kharkiv and Sumy.
