Swing states favor Trump on addressing Ukraine war – WSJ
Voters in key US swing states believe that former President Donald Trump is a better choice to manage the Russia-Ukraine war than Vice President Kamala Harris, according to a recent poll by The Wall Street Journal.
The WSJ conducted a poll from September 28 to October 8 in seven swing states, surveying 2,100 voters. The margin of error is 2.1 percentage points.
The poll revealed that 50% of voters in these states believe Trump would handle the Russia-Ukraine war better, while 39% expressed confidence in Harris.
Regarding escalating tensions in the Middle East, Trump also held the lead, with 48% of respondents supporting him, compared to 33% backing Harris.
In both cases, Trump's support came not only from Republicans but also from independent voters, with nearly half of independents favoring him to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Swing states are those where the presidential candidates from both the Democratic and Republican parties have almost equal chances of winning, making them the primary focus of election campaigns. These states include Arizona, Wisconsin, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina.
The US election is set to take place in early November.
Trump, Harris stances on Russia-Ukraine war
Neither Trump nor Harris has presented specific plans to end the Russia-Ukraine war. However, Trump has repeatedly promised that he could end the war within 24 hours or even before he takes office if he wins the election. He attributes this confidence to his "good relationship" with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In her public statements, Harris has stitched to the current administration's policy of supporting Ukraine until victory. She also ruled out any negotiations with Putin without Ukraine's involvement.
