Sweden to invest in Ukrainian long-range drones production
Sweden is investing in the production of long-range drones in Ukraine. The funding will be based on the Danish model, according to Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
Umerov paid a working visit to Sweden. He met with Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson. After the meeting, Umerov said that Sweden would finance the production of Ukrainian long-range drones based on the Danish model.
“This is another step toward strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities, demonstrating the trust our partners place in our military-industrial potential,” the Defense Minister adds.
The ministers also discussed plans for financing assistance to Ukraine for 2025. A separate focus of the talks was the equipment of Ukrainian brigades. According to Umerov, Ukraine is finalizing agreements with Nordic partners.
Danish investment model
Ukraine and Denmark have recently agreed on a new investment initiative, the Danish Model 2.0. It involves strengthening cooperation in arms production and technology development. Under the initiative, partners invest in Ukrainian weapons and gain access to modern military technologies.
Drone production in Ukraine
During Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukraine has significantly increased drone production. Both state-owned and private companies are engaged in drone production.
In addition, Ukraine continues to develop new unmanned systems. For example, during the war, Ukraine developed naval drones that were used by its defenders to destroy the Russian fleet.
Ukraine is also developing long-range drones. According to the head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, Ukrainian drones can hit Russian military targets at a distance of up to 1800 km.
