Sweden plans to provide additional $7.5 billion in military aid to Ukraine

Sweden plans to allocate 70 billion kronor ($7.5 billion) in military aid to Ukraine over the next two years, states Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson, according to Reuters.
According to him, a significant portion of the spending will be allocated through the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, for example, to procure additional Archer artillery systems, which are already being used by Ukrainian forces in the war against Russia.
Jonson also noted that after the intrusion of Russian drones into Polish territory, Sweden expressed solidarity and readiness to provide the country with military resources if necessary.
"We have immediately been in contact with Poland's defence minister, where we have said we are willing to make available resources if Poland identifies an interest in this," the Swedish minister said, adding that any such support would be coordinated within NATO.
Aid to Ukraine from Sweden
Today, it became known that Sweden will provide Ukraine with weapons worth $836 million as part of the latest military aid package.
In particular, under this package, the country will purchase 18 new Archer systems and an additional 155 mm ammunition worth $327 million. As a result, Ukraine will have a total of 44 such artillery systems. Ukrainian soldiers have confirmed their effectiveness against Russian targets.
Sweden will also purchase maritime materiel worth $190 million. This includes mobile coastal radar systems, new support vessels equipped with grenade launchers and unmanned systems. The 32 Combat Boat 90 vessels already delivered will be upgraded with additional sensors, weapons, and radars.
In addition, Sweden will provide 500 motorcycles and equipment to support air bases — trucks and tractors — worth $12.7 million.
