Today, May 1, Russian forces carried out two drone strikes on Kharkiv. In one of the drones, police discovered a bag filled with nails, said Petro Tokar, head of the National Police Directorate in the Kharkiv region.

According to Tokar, the Russian army struck Kharkiv around 11:52 a.m. using a Molniya-2 drone that hit the city’s Kyivskyi district. It was in this drone that police found a surprise from the enemy - a bag full of nails.

"When police and explosives experts inspected the scene, we found that a bag of nails had been attached to the drone," Tokar said.

He added that the drone was deliberately equipped with nails to cause as many injuries as possible to Kharkiv residents.

"The Russians are trying to cause as much harm as possible to the civilian population, resorting to these crude methods, adding extra elements to the drone to injure as many people as possible," the police chief said.

Overall, within two hours, Russian forces hit two districts of Kharkiv - Kyivskyi and Osnovianskyi - with two Molniya-type drones, according to police.

Attacks on Kharkiv

Earlier today, around 11:53 a.m., Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that a Molniya-type UAV had struck the ground in the city’s Kyivskyi district near a garage cooperative. No casualties or damage were reported.

At 1:54 p.m., Terekhov announced a second Russian drone strike.

"Another Molniya-type UAV strike was recorded in the Osnovianskyi district. Information on the exact impact site, damage, and casualties is being clarified," the mayor wrote.

Emergency services were working at the scene.

Additionally, an explosion was heard late on April 30 in Kharkiv. A Russian drone hit a gas station, causing a fire.

The mayor initially said that a Molniya-type UAV may have been used in the attack. He later confirmed that the strike hit a gas station in the city’s Kyivskyi district.
