Supply to Avdiivka complicated, Ukrainian Armed Forces activate alternative logistic route
Supply to Avdiivka in Donetsk Oblast, where heavy fighting is underway, is currently hampered. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have used a backup logistics artery, according to Dmytro Lykhovii, spokesperson for the Tavria Operational and Strategic Group of Troops.
"As for Avdiivka, where the front line is very dynamic and our units are maneuvering to move to more favorable positions, sometimes to retake positions, the key message is that supplies to and evacuation from Avdiivka are difficult, but the backup logistics artery, which was prepared in advance, is being used," he says.
According to Lykhovii, the enemy wants to go west of the Avdiivka coke plant, but "there it meets with decent resistance."
Russian losses in Tavria direction
At the same time, the situation in the Avdiivka direction remains very tense but controlled.
"Between 6 p.m. on February 14 and 6 a.m. on February 15, the Russians lost 208 personnel, of which the irreversible losses of the Russian Federation in the Avdiivka direction to the other directions of the Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Group of Troops are 20:1," he says.
As for the entire Tavria direction, the enemy launched 43 air strikes, conducted 64 combat engagements, and fired 1,080 artillery rounds on the last day.
"The lion's share of each of these figures is in the Avdiivka direction," notes the spokesperson.
Total Russian losses in manpower in the Tavria direction amounted to 526 troops over the last day.
"In addition, 55 units of Russian equipment were destroyed, including three tanks, 25 armored personnel carriers, 30 artillery systems, one air defense system, and 5 enemy targets - two UAV control points and three places of personnel concentration," lists Likhovii.
Situation in Avdiivka
The situation in Avdiivka is approaching catastrophic. Street fighting has been going on in the city for several days now.
Just yesterday, the Tavria Operational and Strategic Group of Troops said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had taken care of backup supply routes to Avdiivka in case the enemy managed to cut the main logistics route. On the evening of February 14, the Donetsk Regional Military Administration reported that the road leading to Avdiivka was already completely shelled by the Russian occupiers. At the same time, just over 900 people remain in the city.
In addition, as Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said yesterday, reserves would be used to defend Avdiivka. On February 15, it became known that the Third Separate Assault Brigade was urgently redeployed to the Avdiivka area to reinforce Ukrainian troops.
