Sumy school targeted by Russia, city suffers fire and destruction

On the night of September 11, Russian drones attacked the city of Sumy. Civil infrastructure was targeted, and the city is currently experiencing fires and damage, according to Telegram posts by the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, and acting mayor Artem Kobzar.
According to Hryhorov, the Zarichnyi district of Sumy was hit by the enemy attack.
“The main strike did not hit residential areas. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties. There is a fire at the impact site, along with destruction and damage. The full extent of the attack is being assessed,” he wrote.
At the same time, Kobzar clarified that two explosions were heard in the city. Both were drone strikes targeting one of the city’s educational institutions.
“As of now, there is no information about casualties or injuries. All relevant services are working at the site,” he added.

The Sumy Regional Military Administration confirmed that the drone attack damaged the buildings of an educational institution as well as the institution’s vehicles.
“Additionally, preliminary reports indicate that windows were damaged in three multi-story residential buildings. All necessary services are involved in addressing the aftermath,” he reported.
Attack on Sumy
Russia regularly attacks Sumy and the Sumy region, using drones, missiles, and aerial bombs.
For example, on the afternoon of August 11, the enemy struck the center of Sumy with a drone. The attack damaged the building of the Sumy Regional State (Military) Administration and caused a fire.
Additionally, on September 4, power went out in Sumy and parts of the Sumy district following a Russian strike on critical infrastructure.
