Stranger Things spin-off debuts first teaser with Eleven, Will, and new Upside Down threat
A still from the series Stranger Things
Netflix released the first teaser for the Stranger Things spin-off, Tales from '85. The series will be animated, according to Netflix Ukraine's Instagram.
What the Stranger Things spin-off will be about
The streaming service has intrigued fans with a short, teasing phrase.
"Something from the Upside Down survived," reads the description.
The series is a direct spin-off of the original Stranger Things and takes place between the second and third seasons. Viewers return to Hawkins in the winter of 1985, at a time when the group had no idea that their greatest challenges were still ahead.
Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max will appear again in Tales from '85. The kids face a new paranormal mystery that disrupts the town’s usual rhythm.
The teaser hints at the return of the Upside Down, showing familiar imagery and the shadow of an unknown creature that survived the events of previous seasons.
The project involves the creators of the original series, Matt and Ross Duffer, producer Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, Hillary Levit, and showrunner Eric Robles. Robles previously revealed that in the animated version, viewers will see not only the laboratory and new Hawkins locations but also monsters that didn’t appear in the live-action series. Among them are "pumpkin zombies" and "wine-like monsters."
Stranger Things: Tales from '85 will be the first official extended story in the universe, showing that the influence of the Upside Down in Hawkins continued even when the characters thought the danger was over.
The series is set to premiere on April 23.
