Statement by G20 countries regarding Ukraine to help increase pressure on Russia
The "compromise" final statement of the G20 summit is intended to help Ukraine's allied countries persuade developing nations to increase pressure on Russia, according to Financial Times.
According to several sources in diplomatic circles, the final statement of the G20 summit creates an opportunity to engage developing countries in pressuring Moscow to end the war because "negotiating partners will now return to their capitals with promises to guarantee Ukraine's territorial integrity."
For these reasons, the United States, the European Union, and other allies of Ukraine agreed to exclude direct condemnation of Russia's aggression from the communique.
The signing of the document by all participants is seen by Western countries as a "commitment of all 20 states, including Russia and China, to respect territorial integrity and work towards a just world for Ukraine."
