On Tuesday evening, January 21, Russian forces attacked Mykolaiv with drones. The attack caused destruction, and fires, and resulted in casualties, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

"A mansard floor of a multi-apartment building was partially destroyed. A fire in a sixth-floor apartment, covering an area of 100 square meters, has been extinguished. Two hundred people were evacuated from the building, and all have since returned to their homes," the report states.

The State Emergency Service (SES) added that the blast wave damaged windows in four multi-apartment buildings and one private residential building.

Additionally, rescuers extinguished a reed fire that covered an area of 1,000 square meters.

"Doors and windows in a boat cooperative were damaged. A private house and an administrative building also sustained damage, and a car was destroyed. Fires involving garbage and dry grass over an area of 100 square meters were extinguished," the SES informed.

As a result of the enemy attack, two people were injured. Among them was a 74-year-old woman who was hospitalized, and a man experiencing an acute stress reaction. He received first aid but declined hospitalization.

All fires have now been extinguished. Rescuers reported that emergency psychological assistance points have been set up, staffed by psychologists from the State Emergency Service (SES) and the police.

In total, 45 rescuers and 11 units of SES equipment were involved in the operations.

"As a result of the evening attack by Russia on Mykolaiv, in addition to buildings, several units of electric transport and vehicles of the company's structural divisions were damaged," wrote the city's mayor, Oleksandr Senkevych, on Telegram.

Significant damage was caused to new Dnipro trolleybuses, as well as special vehicles, including a freight service car of the railway service.

"Also, due to the aftermath of the shelling, today, January 22, the distribution of purified water by tram and trolleybus will not take place. Electric transport will operate according to the city's schedule," he added.

Fortunately, there were no casualties.

Russia's attack on Sumy on January 21

It should be reminded that, in addition to Mykolaiv, Russia also attacked the private sector in Sumy with a Shahed drone yesterday evening. As a result of the attack, several houses were damaged, windows were shattered, and a wall was pierced.

Acting Mayor Artem Kobzar informed the city's residents about the strike by posting a video on social media. A fire was visible behind the city leader in the footage.
