State Emergency Service reported and showcased consequences of nighttime strike on Kharkiv
At night, Russian forces struck the private sector in the Osnovianskyi district of Kharkiv. The attack resulted in the destruction and damage of homes and vehicles, with casualties reported, reports the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
According to rescuers, one house was completely destroyed, while another 19 buildings and four vehicles sustained partial damage.
The fire was promptly extinguished. Rescuers retrieved the bodies of four deceased individuals - two women and two men - from the rubble.
Emergency and rescue operations are ongoing, with psychologists from the State Emergency Service assisting those on-site.
Shelling of Kharkiv
On the night of Tuesday, October 29, the Russian forces struck Kharkiv with guided aerial bombs.
Initially, the reported number of casualties was lower, with the city’s mayor, Ihor Terekhov, noting two completely destroyed buildings. However, as the rescue operation progressed closer to morning, more bodies were discovered under the rubble.
Additionally, the Russian army had struck Kharkiv with a heavy bomb the evening before. The Russian forces targeted the central part of the city, destroying the State Industry House, which is under UNESCO protection.
