Russian forces attacked Kharkiv with guided aerial bombs, resulting in casualties and destroyed homes
Russian forces launched airstrikes on Kharkiv again last night, October 29, reportedly using guided aerial bombs. As a result of the enemy shelling, there are casualties, states Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
According to the city's mayor, Russian forces carried out an airstrike on Kharkiv at 2:51 a.m. Kyiv time.
"Impact (likely from guided aerial bombs) was recorded in the Osnovianskyi district," he reported.
As a result of the shelling, two people were killed, while earlier reports indicated one victim.
"The strike hit a residential area: two houses were destroyed, and about 20 sustained varying degrees of damage," the mayor of Kharkiv explained.
Currently, emergency rescue operations are underway at the site of the attack, with crews working to clear debris and locate any potential victims.
Additionally, the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration confirmed the preliminary reports regarding the two fatalities. They noted that there may still be people trapped under the rubble, including children.
According to Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the Regional Military Administration, a fire broke out in a private home as a result of the shelling in the Osnovianskyi district, with one private house destroyed and two others damaged.
"Unfortunately, there are already two deceased. There may still be people trapped under the rubble, including children. The response to the aftermath continues. All emergency services are working at the scene," the head of the Regional Military Administration stated in a Telegram message.
Later, the mayor of Kharkiv reported that a third body had been found under the rubble in the city following the enemy shelling.
"As a result of the strike, there are now three fatalities. The search and rescue operation is ongoing," the head of the Regional Military Administration stated in a post on social media at 3:47 a.m. Kyiv time.

It should be noted that the Russian army regularly carries out airstrikes on Kharkiv, including the use of guided aerial bombs launched from aircraft within the Russian territory.
For instance, last night, Russian forces struck Kharkiv with guided bombs, targeting the central part of the city in the Shevchenkivskyi district.
As a result of the Russian attack, a medical facility and administrative buildings were damaged, including the iconic State Industry Building (Derzhprom), a national cultural monument for Kharkiv. According to the latest information, nine people were injured.
Before this, on the evening of October 27, explosions were also heard in Kharkiv during a hostile airstrike using guided bombs. According to the city administration, Russian forces targeted a residential building in Kharkiv.
It later became known that the number of injured in Kharkiv due to the airstrikes rose to six, with impacts reported in two districts of the city.
